Gordon Crovitz, Columnist and Former Publisher, The Wall Street JournalGordon Crovitz possesses a deep understanding of transforming traditional media outlets into digital powerhouses. He is a member of the board of directors of ProQuest and Blurb, as well as on the advisory boards of several technology-based information companies. As the former Publisher of The Wall Street Journal, Gordon grew "The Wall Street Journal Online" to more than 1 million paying subscribers, making it the largest subscription news site on the Web. He also led numerous acquisitions, including those of MarketWatch.com, Private Equity Analyst and VentureOne. Previously, Crovitz was the executive vice president of Dow Jones & Company. In his 25-year career at Dow Jones, he was a columnist, magazine publisher and founder of Factiva. He has served as chairman of Factiva and an advisor to Media Technology Ventures III, a venture capital investment fund. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago and has law degrees from the University of Oxford and Yale Law School.
Thomas J. Friel, Chairman (Retired), Heidrick & StrugglesThomas J. Friel knows the mindset of CEOs across the globe. Tom was the former chairman of Heidrick & Struggles International where he specialized in recruiting CEOs, chief technology officers and board of director members. Over his nearly 30-year tenure with the company, he founded and led the technology practice and later held the positions of managing partner Asia Pacific, president of Heidrick & Struggles Ventures, and ultimately CEO and Chairman. In 1998, the partners of Heidrick & Struggles named him the recipient of the John E. Struggles Partnership Award, the firm's most significant honor and in 2007 the Association of Executive Search Consultants gave him the annual award for leadership. Friel is an honors graduate of Purdue University, and holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Kathy Yates, CEO, AllBusinessKathy Yates has an impressive track record of transforming digital media into successful business ventures. Kathy joined AllBusiness in July 2005 as COO and was named CEO in January 2007. Before AllBusiness, Yates was President & COO of MarketWatch.com where she actively participated in the sale of the company to Dow Jones for $519 million in January 2005. Prior to that, Yates was founder and vice president of business development for Knight Ridder Digital and senior vice president and general manager of the San Jose Mercury News. Other previous roles include vice president of product development for Women.com, and founding board member of CareerPath (now CareerBuilder) and Classified Ventures. In 2004, Yates was named one of the Bay Area's 100 most influential women in business by the San Francisco Business Times. She earned an Economics degree from Trinity College, an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and she is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. |
